With David the Village Sweep, you can rest easy, knowing that our primary objective is to make your fireplace, stove, and home heating venting systems cleaner, safer, and more energy efficient.
The whole Eakin family has worked for Village Sweep, and many of our customers have gotten to know us over the years. Dave Eakin started the chimney cleaning business in 1979 as a part-time venture. At the time, Dave was a teacher and his wife, Tess, had a teaching degree but was a stay-at-home mom. Their daughters were just little girls back then. As the girls grew older and the business prospered, they helped—Anne provided computer consulting and general office help; Nora passed the Chimney Safety Institute of America certification test and helped her father clean chimneys. Today, Anne teaches courses in Russian literature at Johns Hopkins and Nora lives in Hawaii where she is a practicing lawyer. Both Nora and Anne are married, and Dave and Tess are happy to have two lively grandsons. Tess is still the “live” person most of our customers first talk to when they call the office. Often, when Dave visits someone’s home for the first time, they compliment him for having such a knowledgeable, helpful, and courteous professional answering the phone.
We may have old fashioned values, but we use the latest tools and technology to ensure that your chimneys are operating at optimal levels. All of our lead technicians are CSIA-certified specialists—up to date on NFPA standards and state and local codes, and ready to address the particular needs of your home. We provide comprehensive, reliable services that have stood the test of time.
From our very first chimney cleaning jobs 35 years ago, we’ve been able to meet new customers because neighbors refer neighbors, friends, and family. Thank you for your referrals. One of the joys of being a service company for 35 years is to see the evolution both in the lives of homes and of people. Sometimes we return to a home that has new owners and see how other people have adapted it to their lives. More often, we follow people from one house to another, cleaning their chimneys, advising them, making suggestions, and passing on names of work people who can help them. Since we see people at a year or more intervals, the growth and progress of their children is especially dramatic. We now hold conversations with children whom we tiptoed past as they slept in their bassinettes. Best of all, parents refer us to their children needing help with their first homes.
We very much appreciate your support and referrals.
